Back to School Gifts and Supplies for Teachers
For me, back to school starts this MONDAY! So crazy. In an attempt to get myself organized and start off the school year with my best foot forward I’ve been researching some simple and useful teacher’s gifts. There are plenty of things that teachers get that they just don’t need or like as well as plenty of things that teachers actually need and want. For example, don’t assume you know which scented candle your child’s teacher would enjoy. Instead think about things all teacher’s need in their classrooms throughout the year: Sharpies, Ticonderoga pencils, twistable Crayola colored pencils and crayons, Clorox wipes, baby wipes, kleenex, 409, paper towels, and Expo dry erase markers and erasers. These are things you can always give that are very useful. And, if you’re just dying to add a Pinterest-y touch, add one of the super cute free printable tags from this post and you are at the top of the class!

How to plan a Family Reunion
Later this summer my dad’s side of my family will be posting a HUGE family reunion. This side of my family doesn’t live close to me and there have been some feuds which add up to me not really knowing very many of the extended extended part very well. A couple of uncles are in charge and my dad has been helping out and they are doing such a great job! The most important thing (in my opinion) is the fact that they sent out a “Save the Date” really far in advance. This is key because I was able to move our Yosemite vacation over a day just so my family could attend.
The upcoming reunion got me thinking about what people do to connect everyone at a function like this. So I took to my favorite idea forum and did some looking around. Here are my top ideas for a Family Reunion from Pinterest.

Backyard Fun for Kids
In an attempt to keep my kids from saying they are bored all summer long, I’ve been trying to add little things to make our backyard fun for kids. We have a sand box, a chalk board, a fairy garden, a veggie garden, and some other fun little touches. But, I’m always looking for MORE! More inspiration, more projects, and more fun! This week I’m rounding up my favorite outdoor ideas from around the web.

Awesome Earth Day Activities for Kids
Earth Day is this Wednesday April 22nd. Today I’m taking some time to share a few awesome earth day activities for Kids. This year California is expected to have one of the worst droughts in history! It’s scary, sad, and frustrating all at the same time. For those of us living here we have to brace ourselves for what’s to come. As a family, we starting talking about conserving water last summer when we had record low water levels. We also talked about how there are more fires and other dangers during times of drought. Unfortunately, we saw those fires first-hand last summer. These awesome earth day activities are al about celebrating our earth. The more we celebrate the more called we are to conserve.

Top 10 Sidewalk Games
We have been having some gorgeous weather in NorCal lately. My kids and I have been outside non-stop. They could really benefit from this list of the Top 10 Sidewalk Games. Instead they have been doing their own thing, which totally has its benefits until they get into a power struggle or someone wants to play the game a different way. I’m plan to try a few of these games, I think the structure could help offset some on those darn power struggles.
I hope you find a new game to love in this Pinterest round-up of the Top 10 Sidewalk Games. For more inspiration on kids activities follow my board Kid’s Craft and Activity Ideas and for even more inspiration follow all my boards here.
Top Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas
This is a repost from last year. I decided to send it out again because it has been pinned over 9,000 times on Pinterest in the last 30 days alone! Obviously I’m not the only one looking ahead to a wonderful day celebrating the special women in our life. I hope you find something to inspire you with these Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas.
Sunday, May 10th is dedicated to celebrating moms. I have always loved this day! My mom is, and has always been, a real inspiration to me. She has the patience of a saint and more hearts than a worm. (My daughter just informed me they have 5 hearts.) She truly is an amazing mom and human being. I’ve witnessed her putting everyone else in front of her own needs for all the 25 years I’ve been alive (wink wink). Having a day to celebrate her has always been something I’ve cherished. She has 7 grandchildren now. However, three of those grandchildren have been (one still is) raised by her. Yep, my mom, and awesome dad, are raising their 6th child. My kids call my mom Gigi and she always lights up any room she enters. She’s the best. (You can read more about my amazing mom here.)
When I married my handsome husband, I was lucky enough to have another amazing mom in my life. My mother-in-law is a great mom and a wonderful Mimi to my children. My husband has so many fond childhood memories because of her. She is his most trusted advisor, he knows she’s the one that will give him her best advice that weighs her life experience and his life journey all while putting his best interest first. She’s kind and generous and always makes us feel special. We are all so much better because we have her in our lives.
These women are often called for when my kids feel like they are getting ill treatment from me or my hubby. I guess that’s the mark of a truly wonderful grandparent. Because I’m lucky enough to have these two ladies in my life and so (geographically) close to me, I get to attend two Mother’s Day celebrations each year.
Today, I’ve compiled a great list of Mother’s Day pins to inspire. These pins paint the picture of the lazy, gluttonous, boozy, and dreamy Mother’s Day brunch of my day-dreams. Eating sweet, bready casseroles, drinking champagne cocktails, being surrounded by an expertly styled magical garden on a perfect 76° day complete, and listening to my fave mellow jams from Jack Johnson’s pandora station while perfectly dressed and behaved children wait on me hand and foot just isn’t going to happen…maybe next year…if we’re being honest maybe never. (Longest run-on sentence ever.) But a mama can dream!
