Well Hello again, Mama Momtourage readers! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. In case you didn’t catch last Monday’s Post my name is Megan and last year I started a Facebook page, Crocktober. (Don’t forget to “like” her page for daily updates!) I have been going crazy with my crock pot and I am here to share with you my favorite recipe from the past week.
Hands down best recipe of the week was……Chicken Ranch Wraps
I was having a conversation with a neighbor over the weekend about crockpot meals. (Yes, my life really is THAT exciting.) She brought up a very valid point, she said that her main problem with using the crockpot is that the meals always home out… one dimensional. Not necessarily from a flavor aspect, but the texture. I totally agree with this. There are some dishes that are supposed to be this way: soups for one. But even then, you don’t want the noodles or whatever other starch or grain you are using to come out too mushy. The answer is going to really let down a lot of people. You can’t throw all the ingredients in the crockpot in the morning and expect it to be completely finished eight hours later. No, you can’t. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I’m Megan and as Amanda mentioned I am taking on a slightly crazy mission for the month of October. It all started last October when I started the Facebook page, Crocktober, (you should check it out).
Week 1 Crocktober 2014
I made a different crockpot recipe for the entire month, shared it on my page and also gave my thoughts about the dish. I had so much fun with it last year, that I decided to try it again this year. Call me crazy, I know.
Anyhow, Amanda asked that every Monday throughout the month of October, I share one of the recipes from the previous week, so here we are. Of all the recipes that I attempted this past week, I think the Apple Crisp was totally my favorite. Also, I saw that Mama Momtourage had pinned a similar recipe so that made it even more fitting.
Crocktober’s Apple Crisp
On Monday I told you guys about Crocktober, and showed a little of my fall decor. Did you like my girl Megan’s Crocktober FB page yet? If not, you totally should! She already shared one recipe and there will be another tomorrow and everyday this month. I love it! Yesterday I shared a picture of my crockpot lunch on Instagram and everyone wanted the recipe. Crocktober is in full effect!

Mama Momtourage’s Spicy Thai Soup (tastes very similar to La Bou’s)
I know the official start of fall was actually last week, but this week had cooler nights and mornings and the smell of rain. That’s the official start of fall for me. Fall is here!
This “try-it” is for you! I’m continuing to try to solve your mealtime dilemma this week. It’s funny, when it come to marinara, red sauce, gravy, whatever you called it growing up, the spices many people use in their sauce has so much to do with the sauce they grew up eating. So I used my mom’s spice mix and added some heat and I doubled the recipe to make a huge batch.
